Textures

Description

Quikcote texture is high profile texture coating, containing fine and coarse particles. It gives an attractive finish which effectively hides surface imperfections. The texture finish can vary by the different types of applicators used and is suitable for exterior use only.

Quikcote Fine & Coarse Texture is suitable for:

  • Masonry Surfaces
  • Rendered Surfaces
  • Cement sheet application (provided it has already been rendered with Quikcote Quikpatch).

Application

Quikcote Texture is best applied with a trowel.
Load the trowel generously and apply with short criss-cross strokes using slow movements and a minimum of pressure to ensure that a thick even coat is applied. To obtain an even texture, finish each section by laying off with light strokes, working in one direction only. Exterior wall should be laid off with only downward strokes to maximize dirt shedding. For cutting in around edges, mask up the adjacent edge with masking tape and trowel the Quikcote texture right up to the tape. Remove the masking tape while the Quikcote texture is still wet to prevent sticking. For very small areas use a stippling action with a brush to obtain a similar texture finish to the trowel on application. Moisten the trowel or brushes in water before use to keep them working freely. Rinse occasionally in clean water.

Coverage

Coverage varies significantly depending on the roughness of the surface, the type of applicator used, and the desired texture. As a guide, an average spreading rate of 1.3 square meters per litre may be expected. A high profile may require a spreading rate of 1.0 square metres per litre.

Surface Preparation

Surface preparation is the responsibility of the builder, renovator or main contractor and the applicator. To ensure full performance of the product, application must be carried out in accordance with the recommendations below.

All sheeting materials must be fixed and joints filled and flushed strictly in accordance with the manufactures recommendations.
